| Anecdote "Queen Elizabeth Slept Here? was a terrible little piece of fluff. We did it in Plymouth. I remember doing truly embarrassing publicity stunts (in the stocks on a wet Saturday afternoon in the middle of town....aaaargghhh) to try and boost ticket sales. Thankfully, we failed so very few people ever saw it. I remember one day, that one of the actors did a wonderful accidental spoonerism. He was supposed to say "Cease you poxy pessimists", but what came out was "Cease you pexy possimists". The whole cast was laid out on the stage in fits of laughter." |

| Play Synopsis This play shows the city of Plymouth in Elizabethan times, which was a base for the ships and men that laid the basis for England's national security and later development of the arts. Common to the time, traveling player groups would go from town to town to give performances. Some groups had playwrights who acted, and but all had a distinguished patron, and this play offers a look at the fictional group of My Lord Astbury's Players. |
