Cast and Crew

The Parrsboro Boxing Club is the story of Duff Martin’s coming of age in the 1950’s. Duff is driven by his father who has only one goal for his son: to make him a world champion boxer. Duff is caught between sparing with his father in homemade boxing ring in their basement and the battle of words and literature with his mother in the kitchen.

When his father dies suddenly Duff tries to stifle years of pressure and engineered training. His father’s ambition haunts him and he tries to find solace in the water and escape his ghosts via the sea. Sailing down the American coast Duff encounters storms, gangsters and the fight of his life in Philadelphia.

Duff returns to Nova Scotia determined to find a new life away from the ring. He marries the girl of his dreams but still finds that he can’t escape boxing. He is too good, too fast, his father has taught him too well. Whether he likes it or not his father has created a champion and only after he fulfills that destiny can he put his father’s driving influence to rest.
