BLUE/ORANGE

Cast and Crew
| Christopher, a young black man, has been arrested on the streets of London for strange behaviour. After a mandatory 28-day stay in a psychiatric hospital, his doctor, Bruce, is evaluating him one last time to see if he is ready to leave. Concerned about Christopher's behaviour, Bruce asks his supervisor Robert to sit in on the session. The dynamic of two doctors and one patient unsettles Christopher and he begins to show signs of "borderline personality disorder". Robert is unfazed and orders Christopher's release citing budget concerns, colonial antecedents and a belief that he will fare better on the outside. Bruce digs in and pleads, then demands, that Christopher remain, for his own safety and that of the community. The conclusion of the play is a gripper that begs discussion. |
