I have always considered Gene Hackman to be one of the greatest film actors of modern times, so to work with him on Narrow Margin was very special. I also made a great friend in James B Sikking. We played much golf together and ate and drank with gusto. I spent the whole summer in Vancouver and was longer on the film than anyone else. It was my first really big feature, and still holds a special place in my heart. Gene was learning golf and I still remember him duffing a ball towards a stream and yelling "Get in the water! Get in the water!" And the ball listened!!
