Synopsis

Mentors features two fifteen-year-old techno wizards Oliver and Dee. Oliver has invented VISICRON and his friend Dee has an IMAGISCREEN, a holographic display system. Each week the teens, using their ingenious computer program, transport famous figures into the present to help them find a way to solve a problem on their initiative. Along the way, the mentors reveal surprising, little known facts about themselves, adding new hues to their already colourful lives.

While connected to the time machine, the VR helmet malfunctions and sucks Oliver into an alternate time stream. Unaware of Oliver’s predicament, Simon and Crystal summon detective dynamo and creator of the U.S. Secret Service, Allan Pinkerton (Nigel Bennett), to find their missing cousin. But when they find Oliver in time-limbo, they’re in a race against the clock to rescue him before he ages to death!

"I'm sorry. I dinna mean to give you a fright, but when one's moving among criminals, one has to blend in."

mentors02.wav
"No one ever escapes Allan Pinkerton."

mentors04.wav
"I forgot. I'll need some modern fashions so that I can blend in."

mentors05.wav
"I've always liked bombazine. That fabric stands up to a beatin' and it never chafes."

mentors06.wav
"Thanks anyway. I'm sure I can think of something myself."

mentors09.wav
"Well, eliminating the possibilities brings us one step closer to the facts. Now tell me, what do you see over there?"

mentors11.wav
"Excuse me, could I have a word with you? I say! You!"

mentors12.wav
"Well perhaps it's the fact that we have eyewitnesses who saw the fleeing suspect or perhaps it's just your finely honed instinct."

mentors14.wav
"Ah, well put, young dectective. Now, what are the pieces of the puzzle?"

mentors15.wav

"Ah, it's unlikely. Our suspect steals purses, not people. I believe he thrives on petty theft. He merely took Oliver's bag, however he may yet prove to be the key to discover where your cousin has gone."

mentors16.wav
"The clues to solving a mystery are often right under your nose. is there any way we can research crime scenes, recent burglaries and clown gatherings?"

mentors19.wav
"Ow, I think I've strained something."

mentors20.wav
"Sorry I'm late. I just flew in from Chicago and my arms are really tired."

mentors22.wav
"Hey you, Jimmy. That's my bag!"

mentors23.wav
"A thief expecting us to take his word for it that he's not a kidnapper."

mentors24.wav
Thief: "Poof! Vanished - like David Copperfield."
Pinkerton: "I liked that book."

mentors25.wav
"In what manner - strange?"

mentors26.wav
"I haven't seen a soul."

mentors27.wav
"I can hear the ocean."

mentors28.wav
"I never got to spend moments such as these with my father. He died when I was just a wee lad."

mentors29.wav
"Oh, I think about him every day. He was always after me to do things with him, but I never had the time."

mentors31.wav
"But look at me now. I turned out to be my father's son after all. I wish sometimes he could be here to see how it turned out."

mentors33.wav
"They're gone again - like spirits."

mentors34.wav
"Well, judging by the look of your cousin, you'd better get a move on."

mentors35.wav
"I've got it. Well, don't worry wherever you are. Help is on the way."

mentors37.wav
"Well, this is the strangest case that I've ever solved. But as I said, no one gets away from Allan Pinkerton. Got ya!."

mentors39.wav
"A prepared man does not need luck - just a good disguise."
