Written by Nigel Bennett of television's Forever Knight fame (La Croix) and accomplished vampire fiction author P.N. Elrod, Keeper of the King takes us from King Arthur's court to modern day Toronto and beyond. Richard is a vampire whose mission in life is protecting the lives of the rightful ruling power. He was made a vampire by a beautiful Druid woman who believed she best served her goddess by serving King Arthur.

Once the champion of the King, Richard is now a wealthy anti-terrorist consultant with a record for being able to pull off the impossible and a reputation for being very hard to kill. He thinks quite highly of himself, can't resist the attentions of beautiful women, and his eternal life is looking pretty good to him, all around. But now there is a killer on the loose, who calls himself Charon, and has become a threat to national security. Charon kills with deadly accuracy, and may just be Richard's most dangerous adversary yet. No one has any information on this mysterious villain, because anyone who gets close winds up dead.

A collectors item for Forever Knight fans (with Nigel pictured on the cover) but also a very good read. Light hearted even at its darkest moments, this is not heavy or introspective reading; but fun, vampiric entertainment with an interesting theory on the origin of vampires. With this in mind, I do definitely recommend it.
