An accomplished theatre actor, Mr. Bennett appeared on the British stage for fifteen years before moving to Canada in 1986. During this time he starred in "The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole" at the Wyndhams Theatre in London's West End. He also performed in "Ghosts," "Private Lives" and "Rookery Nook" at such theaters as the Haymarket Theatre in Leicester, the Crucible Theatre, the Bristol Old Vic and the King's Head Theatre Club as well as many seasons on the stages of Canterbury, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield in England.
From 1992-1996, Mr. Bennett starred as the powerful and seductive Lucien LaCroix in the Gemini nominated television series "Forever Knight". In 1995, he received the prestigious Gemini Award for his role in the series, and it was on this show where he made his directorial debut.
Mr. Bennett's feature film work includes co-starring with Gene Hackman in "Narrow Margin," "The Outside Chance of Maximilian Glick," a poignant drama that was voted Best New Film at both the Toronto Festival of Festivals and the Vancouver International Film Festival in 1988, "Legends of the Fall" starring Brad Pitt, "Murder at 1600," starring Wesley Snipes, and "Just Buried" premiering at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival .
Mr. Bennett's television credits in Great Britain include "Harry," "Elizabeth Alone," " "Reilly: Ace of Spies," and the marathon running series "Coronation Street." Canadian and American television appearances include "Andromeda," "Beyond Reality," "Sweating Bullets," "E.N.G.," "Counterstrike," "Street Legal," "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," "F/X: The Series," "La Femme Nikita," "Avonlea," "Adderly," "Night Heat," "Friday the 13th:The Series," "The Twilight Zone," "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues," "Lonesome Dove: The Outlaw Years," "Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict", "John Woo's Once A Thief," "Total Recall 2070," "Codename: Eternity," "Psi Factor," "LEXX," "Mutant X,"and "Relic Hunter." Currently he is working on "The Border," a new CBC series to premiere in the winter of 2008.
Mr. Bennett's made for television movie credits include the HBO Original Movie "Gotti," starring Armand Assante, the critically acclaimed "Harrison Bergeron," "Rescuers," an eight part mini-series produced by Barbara Streisand, "One Tough Cop" with Stephen Baldwin, the Lifetime original movie "Any Mother's Son," with Bonnie Bedelia, "Different" with Lynn Redgrave, "Vanished Without A Trace" with Shelly Long, "Strike" with Lynn Redgrave and Kirsten Dunst, "Martha Inc." with Cybill Shepard, "The Crossing," with Jeff Daniels, "Reversible Errors" and "Jesse Stone: Sea Change" with Tom Selleck.
His recent theatrical credits include the plays "The Price," "A Few Good Men," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and "The Sound of Music" at the Halifax Neptune Theatre. His most recent directing credits include "Noises Off" for the Atlantic Theatre Festival and "The Dumb Waiter" for the Atlantic Fringe Festival.
His recently completed television and film projects include "The State Within" with Jason Isaacs, "At The Hotel" a miniseries written and directed by Ken Finkelman, "Cypher" directed by the renowned Vincenzo Natale, Disney's "The Scream Team," Anita Shreve's "The Pilot's Wife," and "Fatal Passage."
Mr. Bennett has co-authored three fantasy novels with vampire author P.N. Elrod entitled "Keeper of the King," "His Father's Son," and "Siege Perilous." They also contributed a short story to the vampire anthology "Dracula in London."
